Election Results Reaffirm Tennessee’s Commitment to a Strong Education Foundation

NASHVILLE — Team Kid PAC and Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) are celebrating the General Assembly election results and the positive impact on efforts to preserve and expand the public education policies that have driven higher achievement and more opportunities for Tennessee students.

Leading up to the August primary and into the general election, Team Kid PAC focused on informing voters about candidates who will champion these foundational education policies and fight future efforts to weaken them, like we saw during the most recent legislative session.

The following candidates were successfully supported by Team Kid PAC through independent expenditures during 2024 and will be legislators in the 114th General Assembly:

  • SD8 – Jessie Seal
  • SD18 – Ferrell Haile (incumbent)
  • SD22 – Bill Powers (incumbent)
  • HD18 – Elaine Davis (incumbent)
  • HD33 – Rick Scarbrough
  • HD65 – Lee Reeves
  • HD68 – Aron Maberry
  • HD73 – Chris Todd (incumbent)
  • HD77 – Rusty Grills (incumbent)
  • HD 78 – Mary Littleton (incumbent)

“Supporters of education reform policies are headed to the legislature in January because Tennessee voters want the same accountability and results from their public schools as they want from their elected officials,” said Lana Skelo, President and CEO of Tennesseans for Student Success. “Maintaining our state’s progress and reputation as a leader in improvements to student outcomes requires us to protect and build upon the policies that helped kick-start our gains. Based on the election outcomes, it is evident that Tennessee voters don’t want to see our state at the bottom for student achievement, and they expect our legislators to keep their focus on supporting students and protecting accountability in our schools.”

Tennesseans for Student Success is a statewide network of parents and caregivers, teachers, community leaders, volunteers, and advocates dedicated to championing and supporting Tennessee’s students and their futures.
