Tennesseans for Student Success Welcomes Rep. John Rose to the Gubernatorial Race

NASHVILLE — Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) released the following statement to welcome 6th District U.S. Congressman John Rose to the 2026 Tennessee Governor’s race.

“Congressmen Rose is the first of what we expect will be a strong field of candidates vying to be our state’s next governor and we look forward to his proposals to build upon and strengthen policies that have moved Tennessee students forward,” said TSS President and CEO Lana Skelo. “Rose’s background in agriculture will be well suited to expand public discussion on new and innovative ways to bring career and technical education (CTE) programs to rural communities. We encourage him to additionally champion existing policies that protect accountability in schools and require high standards of our students and educators. Polls show more than 80 percent of Tennessee voters support the transparency Tennessee’s assessment and teacher evaluation systems provide into the classroom.”

Rose was raised in Cookeville and is currently serving his fourth term as a congressman. He previously previously served as the commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.

Tennesseans for Student Success is a statewide network of parents, guardians, teachers and community leaders that champions economic freedom and mobility for all Tennesseans by supporting high-quality educational opportunities and working to ensure every Tennessee student has access to a great public education.
