Senator Heidi Campbell Leads a Crowded Field in Tennesseans for Student Success Poll of the Nashville Mayor’s Race

NASHVILLE —  State Senator Heidi Campbell, D-Nashville, Senator Jeff Yarbro, D-Nashville, and Metro Councilman Freddie O’Connell are in a tight race at the top of the Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) poll of the Nashville mayoral election.

The TSS poll is the first to be made publicly available in the race and it also captures important voter positions on key issues. Among the poll’s findings:

  • Increasing teacher pay is the most commonly listed education priority and a majority of likely voters favor raising property taxes to fund it.
  • A majority of likely voters favor providing parents with more options to choose which public school their child attends.
  • Affordable housing and homelessness are considered the most important issues facing Nashville followed by education and children issues.
  • A majority of likely voters oppose the recently passed Titans stadium deal and a plurality oppose hosting either a Democratic or Republican National Convention.

VictoryPhones polled 500 likely Davidson County voters between May 2 and May 4 on behalf of TSS. The polling has a margin of error of 4.38 percent.

Tennesseans for Student Success chose to conduct this poll independently as a public service to candidates and voters in Davidson County.  It is not connected to any campaign in the race.

You can view the full topline report of the poll here.
