In case you missed it on Facebook or Twitter, we had a blast the past few days celebrating our Tristar Reads winners. Joining with Arch, Sarah, and Madison’s families, teachers, and friends, we awarded three $1,000 college scholarships and encouraged a continued love of reading. It was great to be in these three schools and see a culture of literacy and student success.
Go ahead and mark your 2018 calendars. We’ll be launching another Tristar Reads summer of imagination and reading on May 1st. We hope you’ll be a part of our third year of inviting Tennessee’s students to pick up a book, read 20 minutes each day, and help stop the summer slide.
While you’re looking at your calendar, we wanted to invite you to a press conference tomorrow. At 10:30 Central tomorrow morning, on the steps of Legislative Plaza, we’ll be launching the TNSuccessCard.
This scorecard will be a one-stop-shop providing information, voting records, and legislation filed relating to student success. As we continue the work to support our four policy priorities, rigorous academic standards, an assessment aligned to those standards, more public school choice, and accountability for everyone involved in the classroom, we know our TNSuccessCard website will be a helpful tool. Informing Tennessee’s constituents how their elected officials support student success, showcasing legislation that affects policy priorities, and highlighting the work to move those priorities forward is a key part of our work.
If you can’t make the Legislative Plaza press conference tomorrow in Nashville, we hope you’ll tune into our Facebook page for the replay and more information on this exciting tool for student success. |
