NASHVILLE — Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) is welcoming the members of the 114th General Assembly who are convening in Nashville today to begin the important work of strengthening the public education policies that have produced years of improved academic success for the students of our state.
These lawmakers will serve as the last General Assembly of a Governor Lee administration that has shown a strong commitment to public education by modernizing school funding to focus on students’ needs, record investments in education funding, support for educators with historic pay raises and career pathways for Tennessee teachers, and proactive leadership to respond to pandemic related learning loss through the passage of the Literacy Success Act and a focus on tutoring.
“The last six years have set a high bar for education leadership and innovation in our state and that work has produced real results in the classroom,” said Lana Skelo, President and CEO of Tennesseans for Student Success. “We look forward to working with the new leaders and existing education champions in this General Assembly to not only protect these critical student-focused reforms but to also tackle existing challenges like achievement gaps and improving the pathways between public education and careers.”
