Members of the General Assembly Receive Grades for their Work to Improve Education

NASHVILLE — Team Kid PAC today announced an updated helpful tool for Tennessee voters to see where their elected officials stand on critical education issues through the release of its sixth annual SuccessCard, highlighting key votes during the 2022 session.

Team Kid PAC, the political action committee for Tennesseans for Student Success, utilizes the SuccessCard to evaluate members of the General Assembly on education issues. Through the SuccessCard, the PAC awards each legislator a letter grade based on key policy votes during the legislation session, including important votes on the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act (TISA).

“This year’s legislative session brought the historic passage of the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act and other legislation that will help ensure all students have access to effective education in Tennessee,” said TSS President and CEO Adam Lister.  “The SuccessCard will give voters important accurate information about whether their legislators have voted to prioritize students and creating opportunities in Tennessee or fallen short of that mark by placing other interests first.”

91 legislators received an A grade this year including four members who were announced earlier as TeamKid Hero Awardees. These members of the General Assembly were recognized for work that proactively supported and championed legislation for the betterment of all students in Tennessee.

Tennesseans for Student Success is a statewide network of parents and caregivers, teachers, community leaders, volunteers, and advocates dedicated to championing and supporting Tennessee’s students and their futures.
