Summer Study Preview

Speaker Cameron Sexton will convene House Education Instruction and Education Administration Committee members for a student-focused summer study on Wednesday, September 22, and Thursday, September 23.

On Wednesday, the committees will address matters related to chronic absenteeism and truancy followed by a review of the summer learning camps as created by the TSS-supported Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act.

On Thursday, members will attend a presentation hosted by SAS, a state-contracted data and analytics vendor. The presentation will examine the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) data which measures student growth year over year, regardless of whether the student is proficient on the state assessment.

The Education Administration Committee is chaired by Representative Mark White and the Education Instruction Committee is chaired by Representative Debra Moody. TSS will closely monitor all joint committee activity over the two-day session.
