Tristar Reads

Summer Update – September 3, 2018

Since May 1st, we’ve invited Tennessee’s K-12 students to tell us the stories they’ve read and the adventures they’ve taken in books this summer. Tristar Reads, our summer reading program, is coming to a close this week and we look forward to awarding our three $1,000 college scholarships this fall.

We wanted to let you know a little bit more about Tristar Reads and ask you to share this information, or one of our posts with your social media feeds:

-Tristar Reads is open to all Tennessee students in Kindergarten – 12th grade
-It’s free to sign up www.tristarreads.com
Using the website, students log all the time and books they’ve read since May and through September 7th. All reading counts! Reading in the classroom, reading on vacation, reading at the ball field, reading before bed – count it all.
-Three $1,000 college scholarships will be rewarded: one to the top reader (as judged by how many hours read) in K-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th grade.
-Encourage students, teachers, and parents in your life to sign up this week and log all their hours. We’ll be accepting entries on the website until midnight on September 7th.

One of the best ways students can improve literacy skills by practicing literacy skills. Reading 20 minutes a day is a key to student success, and that’s the focus of what we do at Tennesseans for Student Success. Share one of our posts, forward this email, or sign up K-12 graders for Tristar Reads to join us in this focus.
