This week we’re joined by Rep. Moody as she reads “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister. In this story, we learn that sharing with others is caring for others as the rainbow fish learns to share his shiny scales with his friends. It is an important lesson to learn as a youngster.
This week’s theme is EXERCISE is magic! Read along with us as we offer fun ways to engage with kids through exercise in this season.

The summer months are the perfect time to be active and teach students the importance of keeping the human body healthy and strong. While it can often be hot outside, by taking the appropriate precautions, kids can safely have fun while growing to be strong, healthy adults! Here are a few fun suggestions for expending energy this summer. Remember, wash your hands and apply your sunscreen every day!
1. WATER. Take advantage of whatever source of water you have access to such as a pool, a water hose, or a sprinkler. For younger children, fill up pots and pans with water and splash around outside. Here are 25 more water activity ideas!
2. Find a local recreational spot whether it’s a socially distanced playground, a local park, or riding a bike in an outdoor space.
3. Play sidewalk games like drawing with chalk, hula hooping, hopscotch, jumping rope, or basketball – either dribbling or using a hoop if it’s available.
4. Last, exercise your BRAIN! Read, read, read all summer long and keep logging hours with Tristar Reads for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship!
