Join us this week as we watch Rep. Tom Leatherwood (and his dog, Toby!) read “No Roses for Harry!” aloud. At Tristar Reads, we want to continue to emphasize the importance of reading and literacy by including different read aloud’s, challenges, resources, and book recommendations along the way. Do you have any book recommendations you’d like to share? Reply to this email and we’ll include them so others can experience the same adventure. Thanks for following along!
Watch Rep. Leatherwood read here.
It’s not too late to sign up for Tristar Reads. You can sign up at any time and still get involved in what we’re doing all summer long.
Learning looks much different during these times as schools are closed and the classroom is at home rather than in the classroom. We love learning new things and going on new adventures through the fresh pages of a new book. Parents, we encourage you to take advantage of the free subscriptions education companies are offering while schools are closed because of COVID-19. Find those subscriptions here.
It’s important to understand the way online learning is being used among teachers and students. IDEO, a global design firm, is working with Khan Academy to better understand what students and teachers need now and what they could need this fall. They are looking for students 16 and older, as well as teachers, interested in doing a 60-minute interview between May 6-15. Each interviewee will be compensated $100. If you have an interest in taking part in this, please complete this form.
In 2019, Sarah Collier won the middle school age division for reading 383 hours! Read about Sarah’s experience with Tristar Reads last summer and why she loves reading. Join the conversation online by following @TristarReads on Twitter and get your student registered to read with us all summer long at www.tristarreads.com.
Reply to this email and send Tristar Reads a short video about your experience with online learning at home. The first 3 people to respond will receive a book from us via Amazon!
