NASHVILLE – Tennesseans for Student Success (TSS) today released the following statement after the Tennessee House Education Administration Committee approved the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act.
“We’d like to personally thank Chairman Mark White and Vice-Chair Chris Hurt along with Representatives Michele Carringer, Glen Casada, Mark Cochran, Tandy Darby, John Gillespie, Kirk Haston, Justin Lafferty, Antonio Parkinson, and John Ragan for their vote of support to modernize Tennessee’s outdated system for funding public education,” said Adam Lister, President and CEO of Tennesseans for Student Success. “Our current formula for funding schools is three decades old and leaves too many students unprepared to lead successful, rich, and independent lives after high school. TISA is a generational opportunity to invest a billion dollars into public education and create impactful change in the lives of millions of students.”
Earlier this month, TSS launched Fuel our Future to serve as a trusty resource for the public to learn more about TISA. The website also includes a tool for voters to use to check if their representatives are standing up for all students by supporting TISA.
Tennesseans for Student Success is a statewide network of parents and caregivers, teachers, community leaders, volunteers, and advocates dedicated to championing and supporting Tennessee’s students and their futures.
