Weekly Update – May 22, 2017

Graduations are around the corner, report cards are heading home, and teachers across the state are getting ready to pack up their rooms for the summer. Celebrating accomplishments, planning new beginnings – it’s one of our favorite times of the year!

In the spirit of the coming summer season, we’re jumping into your inbox to let you know a few things for the summer:

Tristar Reads is up and running. Make sure the readers in your life (K-12 grade) are signed up at TristarReads.com and are logging the hours they read this summer. By signing up and logging their reading hours, they will be eligible for one of the three $1,000 college scholarships we’ll give out at the end of the program. Sign up today!

– The first session of the 110th General Assembly adjourned last week. We held another Facebook Live to cover the highlights of the session and posted on our website a comprehensive look at legislation related to our policy principles. Take a look at both the video and our wrap-up for a deep dive into the work this session to make sure every student in Tennessee has an opportunity to succeed. If you’d ever like us to come talk to your community, parent, or civic groups about education policy and legislation, drop us a note info@tnsuccess.org. We love sharing the great things going on to help our classrooms!

– During the next few summer months, we’ll be in your inbox every other week. We know you’re busy enjoying the fun and sun, and we don’t want to crowd your day. Make sure you’re following us on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-date information. We’ll make sure you have all the latest information in your every-other-week email from us.

Happy reading!
